My Story

My journey in the hospitality industry began in the year 1999, by working at "Satkar Caterers". Because I loved what I did, I happily worked 21 hour shifts and was a typical workaholic. Shri Kartar Singh, (Founder and President of  "Satkar Caterers") was my first mentor, although I considered him my entire educational institute due to the amount of experience he had in the field.

It was from him that I learnt the importance of working at the grassroot level and learning every aspect of Catering and Event Management.
After gathering some practical knowledge and taking the blessing of my mentor, I started my own Catering business at "Spring House", our farm. I named the Catering company Food Art. Due to the way I was trained, I continued spending most of my time on the field- supervising chefs, developing recipes, making sure the raw material was of the best quality and many such tasks.
During events, I made sure that I could get first-hand feedback on the food and decoration from the guests. For feedback and future improvement, I always observed the tiniest of details, such as keeping an eye on the trash cans to know which dish the guests were discarding the most.

We received a lot of praise for the taste and unique display of our food.
We made sure that we connected with our patrons on a personal level and within a few meetings they became family. So much so, that on the day of the event, the host family entrusted us with the proceedings and could therefore enjoy their celebrations stress-free.

Though my line of work has been of Pomp and show but, here too, I always tried my best to help and guide the hosts to not overspend by giving them inexpensive alternatives to avoid going over their budgets.
Eventually, to benefit our clients and expand the brand, we launched our own thematic tentage company called Gulkriti (Named after and managed by my wife Gul).
We had over 300 dedicated employees whom we considered our family. Here, I got the chance to come across many enterprising minds. Along the way, I feel happy and proud to be able to claim that I was able to guide and convert more than 65 service providers into modern day businessmen. I did whatever I could to help them become Self-Employed.

A very important part of my being, is to have been on the path of The Art Of Living, guided by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar since the early 2000's. Being a part of this organization, I feel has been a grounding and learning factor for me through which I constantly feel enlightened and content.

The journey thus far has not been easy, but we have made it by God's Grace and sheer hard-work along with the help and support of my wife and my children.
The rollercoaster has been fun and we enjoyed every bit of this journey. I now feel as though the seeds we had sown have started bearing fruit, and the tree that started it all is called Food Art.
